SDG Monitor started from our common interest to help United Nations to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Agenda 2030 is a government level contract but companies are in crucial role realising it. That is why we wanted to create a hands-on tool to integrate SDGs into any business strategy or sustainability policy and to help companies measure their sustainability development.
SDG Monitor is a true creation of Covid -19 Pandemic. We met at the online course 'in' Cambridge, started chatting and got an idea to build a measuring device that uses the SDGs. We have been working together now for over a year but have met face to face only three times.
Countries and companies have less than eight years to reach the SDGs. In this fast pacing world it may seem a long time, but it is not, so let's start acting sustainably right now. We have made a commitment to keep developing SDG Monitor at least until 2030 and helping all the companies that are joining us with journey to reach their goals. So, no matter how small step you take towards sustainability just take it, and do it today, for it will most likely grow your business and enhance social wellbeing with less harm to the environment.
One of our first tasks when starting SDG Monitor was to create our own Agenda 2030 with sustainability action plan and start measuring it. Our sustainability goals are energy efficiency, gender equality and data sharing. We want to grow our business by producing and consuming as little as possible and to have fun while reaching our goals.
SDG Monitor was founded in Finland but we like to think of us as citizens of the world. That is why we are contributing to something that is bigger than us. We are proud members of Pledge 1% community and we give back by sharing our knowledge of how to grow your business sustainably.
SDG Monitor started from a common desire to help companies becoming more sustainable. We believe that providing businesses a tool to measure their sustainable actions, show their impacts and communicate them in a transparent way will make a positive impact.
We are happy to have some brilliant minds to challenge us and guide us towards 2030.

"Small steps make big changes"
Companies have a crucial role in advancing sustainability issues. They both can, and should, get involved in shaping a more sustainable future. I believe that they are the perfect players in creating new business opportunities as well as long-term business values.
